The Canada Media Fund (CMF) fosters, develops, finances and promotes the production of Canadian content and applications for all audiovisual media platforms. The CMF is seeking a highly creative and motivated Editor to fill a permanent position. Reporting to the Director of Industry and Market Trends, the Editor is responsible for managing, structuring and updating all content published in CMF Trends. You will ensure that editorial guidelines are adhered to, determine topics to be covered, carry out or oversee research, hire and manage freelance writers and translators, approve content and analyze consumption statistics. You will work with other Canada Media Fund teams and help in evolving the organization’s mission through your creative contributions. Your combination of creativity and know-how will help the organization achieve its business objectives.

RESPONSIBILITIES INCLUDE (but are not limited to):

Editorial Management
- Plan CMF Trends editorial calendar
- Manage production of content for CMF Trends online
- Hire and supervise external team of 10 to 15 English and French writers
- Proofread, revise and coordinate translation of all content
- Adapt content for posting on multiple platforms, including Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter
- Write occasional articles, including updates of existing articles, reports/summaries of research studies and coverage of certain events
- Manage editorial partnerships and content exchanges with Canadian and international collaborators
- Coordinate deliverables produced by freelancers and various contributors (including writers, translators and photographers) for projects under your supervision
- Manage editorial budget

Digital Strategy
- Participate in the development and implementation of the digital strategy (social media, newsletters, website) for the brand and other assigned projects
- Develop, present and deploy multi-platform content calendars and distribution plans
- Manage production of communication tools (including videos, campaign variations)
- Prepare dashboards on CMF Trends online traffic and usage statistics and suggestions for optimizing content distribution and improving performance
- Be familiar with the latest trends in digital communications, social media and industry best practices, and make recommendations

Strategic Intelligence
- Participate in the development of the department’s global strategy, including business intelligence, communications and content strategy
- Participate in the preparation of weekly monitoring reports
- Participate in drafting annual trends reports
- Participate in and oversee strategic writing pieces for senior management

Other Responsibilities
- Manage budget of editorial, social media campaigns and projects under your supervision
- Represent Canada Media Fund at selected events organized in Canada (including conferences, launches and workshops)
- Attend meetings
- Perform any other similar or general duties related to your job function, as requested by superior or as required as part of the job

The ideal candidate will possess the following skills, experience and qualifications:
- Undergraduate university degree in communications, journalism, marketing, public relations or other field related to media and entertainment.
- Excellent command of English and French, both spoken and written. You will be required to read, evaluate, correct and edit copy in both languages.
- A minimum of three to five years of experience as a journalist, editorial manager, online editor, content manager or digital communications manager.
- A proven track record in digital communications.
- Sound knowledge of legal issues related to content creation.
- Excellent knowledge of online tools (WordPress, Campaign Monitor), social media platforms (Facebook Business Manager, LinkedIn, Instagram, Twitter) and measurement tools (Google Analytics, Facebook Analytics).
- Analytics IQ and Blueprint certifications an asset.
- Extensive experience in writing and editing.
- In-depth knowledge of the Canadian media and entertainment industry.
- Proficiency in Word, Excel and Photoshop.
